“I want Mona Castle to be Seddon’s local, a place where everyone's welcome.”

Mona Castle is where the heart of Seddon beats loud and proud.

Seddon’s 19th century pub heritage continues with new owners and a glow-up to make Mona Castle Seddon’s go-to watering hole.

While the refurb is fresh, the pub’s old-world charm still embraces you with a warm welcome as soon as you step through the door.

Taylor Tatterson is one of a group of owners – all friends – who are responsible for the new look Mona Castle.

“The pub didn’t reopen after the lockdowns of 2020 and sat vacant for a while. Because all of us have had experience working in, managing and owning pubs, we thought that we had the skills to take it on. To restore it to become a friendly country-style pub in the inner city while staying true to its old-school pub vibes.”

During the renovation they’ve chosen to keep the bones of the venue, such as the hardwood bar, the vintage fireplaces and the front bar’s green ceiling.

On the taps are nine beers, including brews by independent brands such as Footscray’s Hop Nation and staple beers like Carlton Draught.

The menu is packed with pub classics, so whether you’re hankering for a Sunday roast or keen to try the parma, Mona Castle’s got you covered.

The pub draws a varied crowd and the sense of community is what Taylor loves about the place. With live music, trivia nights, even a weekly meat tray lottery supporting a charitable cause – the crew have definitely dialled up the fun.

“There’s nowhere else that provides the same opportunities for people of all genders, ages and walks of life to mingle together. While the menu is the same in the whole pub, different groups bring a different atmosphere to the dining room, front bar and outdoor beer garden.

“I want Mona Castle to be Seddon’s local, a place where everyone’s welcome.”
