Art of Lampshades Workshop

May 25, 2024

Art of Lampshades is an exhibition featuring lamps made from different materials and shapes. The exhibition will focus on cultural diversity, sharing works of artists and designers from diverse cultural backgrounds to express ideas about land, traditions, and heritage by using the lamp as a canvas to express ideas. The lampshades are inspired from home as well as other cultures, including Persian rug patterns, floating lanterns from Asia, and Chinese paper craft through interpretation to create a story.

Created from upcycled and repurposed materials the lamps promote sustainable methods of production, and inspire viewers with ethical practices, including using recyclable materials such as paper, fabric, felt, and yarn.

A lantern making workshop will be held on Saturday 25th May where participants will work alongside the artists and designers to make lanterns using various sustainable materials, methods, and techniques.
